ILSI provides guidance, casework support, and referrals to help migrant workers, families, governments and employers navigate labour migration safely. This page explains the limits of that guidance so you know when to seek further, formal support.

General information, not legal advice

The guidance on this website, including the step-by-step advice in our Get Help section, is general information written to help you understand your situation and take safe first steps. It is not legal advice tailored to your individual case, and it does not create a lawyer-client relationship between you and ILSI.

Not a substitute for licensed legal representation

Where a situation requires formal legal action — a labour tribunal case, a criminal defence, an immigration matter, or a compensation claim — you need representation by a lawyer licensed in the relevant country. ILSI's caseworkers can help you understand your options and connect you to a vetted lawyer through our lawyer directory, but ILSI itself does not provide legal representation.

No guaranteed outcome

ILSI works in good faith and to the best of its ability on every case, but we cannot guarantee a particular legal, financial or immigration outcome. Membership, described in what is covered, is not an insurance product and does not itself pay compensation.

Emergencies

If you are in immediate physical danger, contact local emergency services first. Guidance on this website, including our emergency helplines page, is a supplement to, not a replacement for, local emergency response.

Verification tools

Our card and agent verification tools reflect ILSI's own records at the time of checking. A negative result does not automatically mean fraud, and a positive result does not guarantee every representation made by that individual is accurate — always use judgement alongside these tools.
