Request a Government Briefing

Ministries, embassies and parliamentary committees can request a briefing from ILSI's policy team on any corridor or thematic area.

ILSI's policy team provides briefings to ministries, embassies, parliamentary committees and multilateral agencies on labour migration corridors, bilateral agreement design, consular capacity, and reintegration policy.

Who this is for

This service is intended for ministries, embassies, parliamentary committees, and multilateral agencies with a direct policy or oversight interest in labour migration. If you are a journalist, please use partnerships and media instead, and if you represent an employer, see request an employer consultation.

What to include in your request

  • Your institution and role, and the audience the briefing is for.
  • The corridor or thematic area of interest — for example, Nepal to the GCC states, or recruitment fee enforcement generally.
  • Whether you need a written briefing, a verbal presentation, or both.
  • Any timeline, such as an upcoming negotiation, hearing, or budget cycle.

What happens next

ILSI's policy team will confirm receipt and follow up to scope the briefing, drawing on our publications, data hub, and current casework where relevant. Briefings are provided at no cost to government and multilateral institutional partners.

For non-governmental partnership or media enquiries, please use partnerships and media instead.

Typical briefing formats

Briefings can take the form of a short written note ahead of a meeting or hearing, a fuller technical paper for a policy team, or a verbal session with our policy staff, delivered in person or remotely depending on the ministry's preference and timeline. Many requests combine more than one format, for example a written brief followed by a verbal question-and-answer session.

Confidentiality

Briefings prepared for a specific government are treated as confidential to that government unless otherwise agreed. Where a briefing draws on themes also covered in our public policy briefs, we will indicate clearly which parts are already public and which are prepared specifically for the requesting institution.

Response times

ILSI aims to respond to every government briefing request promptly, though the time needed to prepare a full briefing depends on its scope — a short verbal update can often be arranged quickly, while a detailed corridor analysis may take longer to prepare properly. Let us know your timeline when you submit a request so we can plan accordingly. Briefings provided to government and multilateral institutional partners carry no cost, reflecting ILSI's view that good policy depends on all sides having access to reliable evidence, not only those able to commission their own research and analysis on their own budget.
