Verify a Membership Card

Check whether an ILSI membership card is genuine, using the membership number printed on the card and our online verification tool.

Because ILSI membership carries real weight with employers, embassies and partner organisations, fraudulent recruiters sometimes produce fake membership cards to appear more credible than they are. This tool lets you check whether a card is genuine in seconds.

Why verification matters

A genuine ILSI card means the holder has been through pre-departure checks and has access to our helpline and casework support. A fake card gives none of that protection while creating a false sense of security — for the worker holding it, and for anyone relying on it, such as an employer or embassy official.

How to verify a card

  1. Find the membership number printed on the front of the card.
  2. Enter the number into the verification tool below.
  3. The tool will confirm whether the number matches an active ILSI membership and, where relevant, which tier.

If you do not have internet access, call the ILSI helpline for your country and a staff member can verify the card for you over the phone.

Who should use this tool

This tool is useful to several different people: an employer confirming a worker's status before hiring, an embassy official assessing a case, another worker deciding whether to trust an agent who claims ILSI affiliation, or a family member checking a card sent home as proof of registration. In every case, the check takes only the membership number and a few seconds.

Reporting a fake card

If you come across a card that does not verify and you suspect it was deliberately produced to deceive, especially if it is linked to a recruiter or agency, please report the recruiter so ILSI can investigate and, where appropriate, add it to our scam alerts for other workers.

Keeping your own card secure

Do not share your membership number publicly or hand your physical card to anyone who is not entitled to see it. If your card is lost or stolen, contact your nearest ILSI office to have it reissued and, if you are concerned it may be misused, to have the original number flagged.

How verification works

  1. Locate the membership number printed on the front of the ILSI card.
  2. Send us the membership number together with the member's full name.
  3. Our membership team confirms — usually within one working day — whether the card is currently active.
