ILSI Helpline Network Goes Live Across Ten Countries
ILSI's 24-hour helpline network is now live for members across ten countries, giving migrant workers a direct line to casework support wherever they are employed.
ILSI's 24-hour helpline network has gone live across ten countries, giving registered members a direct line to casework support in their country of employment as well as in Nepal. The network covers Nepal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Malaysia, the Republic of Korea and the United Kingdom.
How the helpline works
Each country-specific helpline is staffed around the clock and connects callers to a caseworker who can advise on the most common issues raised by members: unpaid wages, passport retention, workplace injury, contract disputes and requests for emergency return home. Calls are answered in Nepali and English wherever possible, with Arabic and Korean-language support available through the Gulf and Seoul lines respectively.
"A helpline is only useful if someone genuinely picks up the phone and knows what to do next," said Suresh Bahadur Adhikari, ILSI's Director of Legal Protection. "Every one of our helpline staff has been trained against real case scenarios drawn from our legal panel's experience, not a generic script."
Built-in fraud protection
ILSI has also published its official helpline numbers clearly across its website and member materials, warning that scam messages impersonating the ILSI helpline have already been reported in some corridors. Members are advised to save their country's official number directly from the ILSI emergency helplines page rather than from a forwarded message or third party.
The helpline network complements ILSI's legal panel of verified lawyers in each jurisdiction, ensuring that any case requiring formal legal representation can be referred quickly once initial advice has been given by phone.
